What is Well-Known Folder in Your cPanel?

This is a small blog post from me and might be the last (i’m not sure) one before the Christmas. Have you logged into your cPanel and did you find any folder named “well-known”. Then you must be scratching your head to know how this folder popped-up in your cPanel account file directories and even you might got scared to see if that is something suspicious.

So relax and nothing to get scared about “well-known” folder as this folder automatically created by cPanel in order to validate your domain for AutoSSL purposes. AutoSSL is an added feature of cPanel/WHM which offer you free SSL certificate for your domains, its also known as self-signed SSL certificate. The folder .well-known created while the time of the domain validation process as a part of AutoSSL installation.
